Laidlaw Innovation Festival
Sedgefield Hardwick Primary Academy presented the Laidlaw Innovation Festival. 10 primary schools convened at Sedgefield Community College and became innovators for the day!
With food, music, fun and thinking all on offer, there was a whole lot of creativity going on.
The festival was adorned with numerous Innovation Stations, with Little Inventors in command of their very own station!
We drew on the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal Life Below Water, which underpins the importance of conserving and using the world's oceans sustainably.
Each group of participating children focused on 1 of 8 underwater areas at our station: coral reefs, fishing, temperature, plastic, deep ocean, myths and legends, transport and energy.
Fusing fun, STEM-based activities with content from our books: Little Inventors Mission Oceans and Little Inventors Go Green, our station got children thinking in depth about our oceans and it challenged them to think like an inventor!
The session was an engaging blend of learning, thinking, discussing, drawing and making. All the hallmarks of becoming the next great inventor!
