'Mythmachine' Workshops at the BALTIC
Primary school pupils in the North East were invited to the amazing Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead for five thrilling workshops.
Based on Baltic exhibition Mythmachine by Sahej Rahal, during the STEAM-centric workshops the children were challenged to use their imagination to create their own mythical creature. They then created a set of wearable components to perform as their creature. The exciting, school-day length experience incorporated story-making, drawing, making, texturing, sound creation and performance.
The children worked alongside Little Inventors’ expert cardboard artist Lottie Smith to produce the creature costume and were mentored by performance artist Igor Tavares to curate their own unique portrayal of creatural behaviour.
