The Engineer: Collaborate to Innovate Awards
The Powering the Future challenge was nominated for an award at The Engineer’s Collaborate To Innovate awards - and won!
Now in its eighth year, The Engineer’s Collaborate To Innovate awards (C2I) was established to uncover and celebrate great examples of technology-led engineering collaboration across a range of different disciplines and sectors.
This year, shortlisted entries were judged by a panel of some of the UK’s leading engineers, and the winners announced on Thursday 29th February 2024 at a special awards party at One Great George Street, London.
We attended the event alongside inventor John Parnum, in anticipation of a particularly exciting award announcement...
Our Powering the Future: South Tyneside and Beyond! challenge is currently in its second year, it is presented in partnership with Dogger Bank Wind Farm and South Tyneside Council.
The challenge was nominated for the STEM Initiative award and we were thrilled to scoop first place in the category!
The project gets children inventing and creating in response to environmental issues. It offers a hands-on approach to STEM subjects and opens the door to the possibilities within renewable energy.
The first year of the project produced six amazing invention ideas that were brought to life. One of which was Isaac’s idea Wind Mirrors. The nifty idea uses propellors attached to car wing mirrors to produce energy to power the car's sat-nav and stereo!
Isaac's invention was shortlisted in the Young Innovator category, we are so proud of him for making the shortlist! He and his family were in attendance on the night, as were representatives from South Tyneside Council and Dogger Bank Wind Farm.
We are very excited to sift through all of the amazing ideas that are soon to flood in during the second year of the challenge and to pick more bright young winners that will see their invention brought to life.
