Meet the maker: Craig Fox
Becoming a magnificent maker here at Little Inventors provides the opportunity to bring a child's imagination and ideas to life. It allows maker and inventor to embark on a collaborative journey as they work to realise their collective vision.
Maker Craig Fox
We have a wonderful cohort of makers nestled under the Little Inventors umbrella and there is always room for one more.
We are very pleased to welcome Craig Fox and massively appreciate the talent and experience he can provide as a maker.
Craig runs design and engineering consultancy Foxworks Engineering. Their mission is to be your trusted engineering partner for industrial design that's innovative, robust, and exactly what you want.
Founded by Craig in 2022, Foxworks specialises in mechanical design, photo realistic renders, prototyping, and 3D printing. In other words, ideal skills to have on hand when bringing a little inventor's idea to life!
Foxworks focuses on design and development
Craig's background is varied and impressive and he is keen to embrace what we do here at Little Inventors as he has a passion for STEM.
He says: "I have worked on products ranging from race cars to large diesel engines to health and safety equipment. I’ve always loved getting involved in STEM support with schools and this looks like a great initiative where I could share my design and engineering skill to help bring some amazing inventions to life."
Craig is on track to bring an idea to life for our Powering the Future challenge. He is working with one of our amazing challenge winners to infuse life into their invention as he utilises all of the expertise he brings to the table.
The invention in question is the aptly named Leash McLeashy 2000. So much more than just a dog lead, the invention generates electricity which travels through the leash so you can charge your phone as you walk your dog. Inventor Lilli-Rose is quite the bright spark if you ask us.

But Craig is no stranger to the making process. He joined us for our Sustainable Development Goals challenge.
Drawing on the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals agreed by all United Nations Member States in 2015, this challenge had children invent something to help prevent climate change and protect our planet.
Challenge winners Kyle and Jaden created Compost Table which Craig deftly realised as a 3D render.
Finally a composter you’ll want to put on display, all this invention requires is that you slide it open, drop in food scraps and crumbs, and watch the plants inside grow from the nutritious soil.

Craig has provided detailed and intriguing accounts of the making processes of both ideas on his maker blog you can take a look at here.
We can hardly rein in how excited we are to see what form Leash McLeashy 2000 will take as a tangible, brought to life invention. It will proudly take its place amongst the other prototypes thought up by fellow challenge winners, all hailing from South Tyneside.
Thank you Craig for your creative prowess and your dedication to all we do here at Little Inventors thus far!
